Friend of Marilyn (FOM) is a fat positive radio show on Access Manawatu 999AM. It provides counter programming to the normative discourses on fatness and obesity in our culture, hosting conversations in which accepted ideas and stereotypes about fatness are challenged. FOM believes that safe spaces for fat people are important, and the show is committed to providing a forum where fat people get to speak for themselves (not just have their lives thinsplained by others). FOM began in August of 2011, and is currently on a tour around the world – make sure your city is a spot today!

Thank you so much for having a “pay what you can option.” I am a student and this option made it possible for me to join the conference. I only wish I could have donated more to this amazing cause.

Hello! I am in the UK but would love to ‘attend’. Do you have any timings (time zone) so I can check whether I need to be up all night? 🙂 Thanks!

    • Hi Jenny,

We don’t have the schedule yet, it’s typically Friday night from around 6pm to around 8pm Pacific, and Saturday and Sunday from around 8am Pacific to around 8pm Pacific. Remember also that your registration includes recordings and transcripts of all talks so that if you decide to skip the all nighter you can listen/read on your own schedule!
